Apart from FoxO3, other redox-sensitive factors, such as nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2), nuclear factor κB (NF-κB), and activator protein 1 (AP-1), are deranged in COPD patients resulting in deficiency of antioxidant defense system and consequentially in a status of persistent oxidative stress [25–27]. This evidence concerns the gene NFE2L2 and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
