CAT and breast cancer: At the same time, cancer cells subjected to 3,3′,4,4′-THS were characterized by reduced activity of the major enzymatic antioxidants, SOD and CAT, which resembles the findings of Murias et al., who found that another ortho polyhydroxylated RVT derivative, 3,3′,4,4′,5,5′-hexahydroxy-trans-stilbene (3,3′,4,4′,5,5′-HHS), elicited cytotoxic activity against breast cancer cells by decreasing the expression of SOD and CAT [28].
