Accumulating data suggest that type 2 diabetes (T2D) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) are associated and both diseases share the pathological characteristic of amyloid deposits, derived primarily from Islet Amyloid Polypeptide (IAPP) in T2D β-cells and Amyloid β (Αβ) in AD neurons1, 2, 3, 4. Here, PPIB is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
