The aim of this study was to compare the effects of sucroferric oxyhydroxide (PA21) with two other noncalcium phosphate binders, lanthanum carbonate and sevelamer carbonate, on concentrations of serum FGF23, phosphorus, calcium, and intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH), and in particular to investigate its potential effect on the development of vascular calcifications in an adenine-induced CKD model in rats. Here, FGF23 is linked to chronic kidney disease.
