GNRH1 and Kallmann syndrome: Because the zebrafish is an excellent model for human disease (Howe et al., 2013) and recent advances in CRISPR/Cas9 technologies will allow us to generate site directed mutations in the zebrafish (Hwang et al., 2013) in genes known to cause Kallmann syndrome our studies present an exciting opportunity to dissect their role in the development and maintenance of GnRH cell progenitors in the central nervous system.
