This suggests that SM6Met contains a compound or compounds conferring subtype specific estrogenic activity [33], which may be beneficial as it has been shown that physiologically, ERα is associated with the stimulation of cell proliferation and the increased occurrence of breast cancer, while ERβ diminishes the effect of ERα in breast cancer and could act as an inhibitor of breast cancer development [34–41].
