MEK (MAPK kinase) inhibitors and cucurbitacin-I, an inhibitor of signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 (STAT3) signaling, have shown promise in decreasing the size of neurofibromas and of MPNSTs (Banerjee et al., 2010; Jessen et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and plexiform neurofibroma.
