Given the observations by Ban et al. (39) that GLP-1 has a cardioprotective role acting via a receptor other than GLP-1R and our results demonstrating that RAMP2 prevents GLP-1-GCGR activity, it would be interesting to determine whether RAMP2 interacts with the GCGR to alter signal transduction in cardiomyocytes and whether this interaction is perhaps preventing the actions of GLP-1, leading to heart failure. The gene discussed is GCGR; the disease is heart failure.
