MAP3K5 and neoplasm: Hsp70 is frequently constitutively overexpressed in the cytosol and present on the plasma membrane of many different tumor types [5–7] to promote cancer cell survival, tumorigenicity and anti-apoptotic activities, such as interfering with the apoptosis signal regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) and the co-chaperone CHIP [5–11], blocking BAX translocation to the mitochondria [12] or by interfering with lysosomal membranes and thereby inhibiting their permeabilization [13].
