It was shown that numerous mediators play a critical role in inflammation, cancer and thrombosis such as C-reactive protein, interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β) (markers of inflammation), matrix metalloproteases-9 (MMP-9), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) (reflecting angiogenesis), tissue factor (TF) and fibrinogen (coagulation markers) and soluble P-selectin (marking platelet activation). This evidence concerns the gene TF and cancer.
