To evaluate the role of different members of the P2Y receptor family in the host response during infection by T. gondii, peritoneal macrophages infected with tachyzoites at a 5:1 ratio of tachyzoites to host cells were treated for 30 minutes with 100 μM of ATP (P2Y2 activator), UTP (P2Y2 and P2Y4 activator) or UDP (P2Y6 activator). The gene discussed is P2RY4; the disease is infection.
