Receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) have been shown to be involved in internalization through the clathrin-dependent endocytosis pathway; however, a clathrin-independent mechanism, such as caveolin-1 for RTKs internalization in breast cancer, has also been demonstrated [20, 21]. The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is breast carcinoma.
