In one series, TP53 mutations have been associated with recurrence of HCC; indeed, 16 of 33 cases (49%) of recurrent HCC were observed to harbor the P53 mutation; additionally patients whose tumor had the P53 mutation had a faster time to recurrence after surgical resection, further supporting this mutation’s role in carcinogenesis.[24]. Here, TP53 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
