As the hedgehog pathway has been implicated in the development of HCC and of colonic cancer stem cells, as well as in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (for reviews, see [65, 66]), the present results support the idea that the tumor-suppressing activity of GAS1 may be mechanistically related to its participation in hedgehog signaling. This evidence concerns the gene GAS1 and malignant colon neoplasm.
