Other examples of peptides derived from overexpressed genes include those derived from the inhibitor of apoptosis protein survivin [94, 95], the wild-type p53 protein [96, 97], or the oncogene and growth factor ERBB2 (HER2/NEU) which is overexpressed in many epithelial tumors such as ovarian and breast carcinoma due to increased gene transcription and gene amplification [98–100]. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is breast carcinoma.
