In case of HCC, recent immunohistochemical studies of stem cell markers suggest that HCC are histologically heterogeneous and contain a subset of cells expressing a variety of stem cell markers, such as EpCAM [21], BMI1 [22–25], CD13 [26], CD24 [27], CD90 [28] and CD133 [29–32]. The gene discussed is THY1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
