CSF1R and tuberculosis: Because mice deficient in CSF-1R signaling have a global macrophage deficit (Cecchini et al., 1994; Dai et al., 2002; Stanley and Chitu, 2014) and are susceptible to M. tuberculosis (Teitelbaum et al., 1999), we sought to use CSF-1R-deficient zebrafish to determine the role of macrophage deficiency in TB pathogenesis.
