P2X7 receptors are constitutively expressed in the urothelium and submucosal of rat [29, 30] and mouse urinary bladder under normal conditions [21, 31] and are up-regulated in the urinary bladder of patients with symptomatic outlet obstruction [32] and bladders of CYP-induced HE-model mice [21].
