Thus, these data support our findings that BRCA1 cancers have a distinct miRNA signature and form a distinct subgroup within the basal cancers, characterised by the up-regulation of a number of miRNAs involved in regulation of the MAPK/ERK pathway (MPA3K2, MAP2K4, MAP4K4, PTPN2 [40], CHUK [41], PDGFRA [42], ERBB4, JAK3 [43]), and 2) histone modification (HDAC8, MYST2, MLL).
