In the commonest types of malignancies, the median PCT was found to be high in colon cancer (0.400 ng/ml [range 0–81.95]), leukemia (0.265 ng/ml [range 0–129.3]), thyroid cancer (0.231 ng/ml [range 0.034–13.51]), lymphoma (0.165 ng/ml [range 0–67.38]) prostate cancer (0.164 ng/ml [range 0–2.87]), and sarcoma (0.147 ng/ml [range 0–24.67]). The gene discussed is CALCA; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
