We found that miR-143 levels were significantly low in SS compared to other soft tissue sarcomas such as GIST and LMS and miR-143 targets ERK5 or MAPK7. EKR5 plays a crucial role in cellular growth and proliferation via tyrosine kinase signaling, and lower levels of miR-143 leads to amplified ERK5 levels leading to SS (Esau et al., 2004). The gene discussed is MAPK7; the disease is soft tissue sarcoma.
