CRP and diabetes mellitus: With an AUC of 0.84 (95% CI, 0.80–0.89), MBL showed a significantly greater discriminatory ability to diagnose DR as compared with Hs-CRP (AUC, 0.58; 95% CI, 0.52–0.65; P<0.0001), HbA1c (AUC, 0.63; 95% CI, 0.56–0.70; P<0.001) and age (AUC, 0.55; 95% CI, 0.49–0.63; P<0.0001), while was in the range of diabetes duration (AUC, 0.82; 95% CI, 0.77–0.86; P = 0.056; Fig 4A).
