In contrast to the DBA staining (GalNAc), the detection of N-Acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) residues recognized by Wheat Germ Agglutinin (WGA) showed no clear difference after infection, suggesting the alteration of mucosal DBA lectin-reactive carbohydrate profiles that occur in response to S. Typhimurium infection did not affect substrates glycosylated by WGA-reactive GlcNAc (Fig 2D). This evidence concerns the gene RPS19 and infection.
