In our previous study [6], in addition to the impaired insulin secretion, in vivo and in vitro, in hypothyroidism, a positive correlation was demonstrated between islet insulin secretion and serum T3 and T4 concentrations in thyroidectomized male rats; we previously discussed that the controversy about insulin secretion in hypothyroidism may be related to the gender of animals used in some experiments, presence or absence of insulin resistance, or the severity of the hypothyroidism. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is hypothyroidism.
