Given our findings that Rictor/mTORC2 is required in the normal mammary epithelium for PKC-alpha-Rac1 activation which drives MEC survival, motility, and invasion, it will be interesting to determine if the mTORC2-PKC-alpha-Rac signaling axis is used by breast cancer cells to drive metastasis. The gene discussed is RAC1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
