The inhibition of other enzymes in the de novo lipogenic pathway, such as ACL, choline kinase, ACC, monoglyceride lipase (MGLL) and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), has proved effective as cancer treatment in preclinical settings and these enzymes are in the focus of drug development, and some of them, for example, statins, are currently undergoing clinical trials (Brusselmans et al, 2005; Glunde et al, 2005; Hatzivassiliou et al, 2005; Nomura et al, 2010; Bjarnadottir et al, 2013). This evidence concerns the gene MGLL and cancer.
