The MIR193A gene lies within a CpG island, and previous studies in lung cancer [17, 27, 38], oral squamous cell carcinoma [32] and AML [33] have demonstrated a methylation-induced silencing of the MIR193A gene and corresponding downregulation of miR-193a-3p in tumor cells. The gene discussed is MIR193A; the disease is lung carcinoma.
