Among negative and significant correlations (70/215), we observed a strong correlation (−0.903) between ID1, one of the main down-stream targets of TGFbeta signaling [37], and miR-520e, a microRNA belonging to the miR-373/520 family: its over-expression has been recently described to have a tumor suppressive role in breast cancer, also by down-regulation of the TGFbeta signaling [38]. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and breast cancer.
