Subsequent experiments revealed that additional DNA repair-disabling cancer-associated mutations in genes such as RAD51, RAD54, DSS1, RPA1, NBS1, ATR, ATM, CHK1, CHK2, FANCD2, FANCA, or FANCC were also associated with PARP1 inhibitor sensitivity (McCabe et al., 2006). The gene discussed is ATM; the disease is cancer.
