SPARC and diabetes mellitus: Most of the cellular functions of SPARC and its partner proteins in the pancreas (PA/AMY2B and APC2) which were significantly annotated by IPA (S4 Table), appeared to be associated with chronic inflammatory conditions and related pathologies, like inflammatory and immune responses, differentiation, expansion, and infiltration of leukocytes, necrosis, amyloidosis, diabetes mellitus, non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, invasion, organ degeneration, adhesion, and arrest in cell cycle progression.
