INS and Hypoglycemia: Hypoglycemia was also associated with a significantly higher risk of accidental falls, motor vehicle accidents,7 and fall-related fractures.8 According to the study of the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System–Cooperative Adverse Drug Event Surveillance in the United States, 5.1% of patients who visited the emergency department for insulin-related hypoglycemia and errors had suffered a fall or injury.13 A UK regional study showed that 2.5% of the severe hypoglycemic patients requiring emergency ambulance services had had a fall.
