In a genetic analysis, patients with hepatitis C virus-associated HCC showed correlation between reduced 25OHD serum levels and the presence of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in GC (encoding the vitamin D binding protein), DHCR7 (encoding 7-dehydrocholesterol reductase) and CYP2R1 (encoding a liver 25-hydroxylase) [62], that are genetic determinants of vitamin D serum levels. This evidence concerns the gene DHCR7 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
