These include deregulation of tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes such as TP53, present in about 40% of cancers, CTNNB1 (β catenin gene), expressed in about 25% of HCC due to hepatitis C virus, ErbB tyrosine kinase receptor family members, E-cadherin and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) [53,54]. This evidence concerns the gene CDH1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
