In support of antionconcogenic role of S100A2, the expression level of this gene shown to be down-regulated in breast cancer, melanoma, prostate cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and gastric carcinoma [3, 7, 8, 12, 16, 18]. The gene discussed is S100A2; the disease is esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
