MTOR and cancer: It is hoped that this review will encourage an increment adequately powered and well-designed clinical trials in the various cancer types, beyond the phase I trials that have been recently performed, and specifically trials where these compounds may be tested in association with other known anti-cancer pharmaceuticals like NFV associated to bortezomib and hydroxychloroquine in myeloma, or mTOR inhibitors with NFV in HNSCC and many other possible combinations where the dual feature of NFV, ER stressor and Akt inhibitor, are required.
