TEK and malaria: Though the numbers are small, if we segregate current malaria in pregnancy by P. vivax and P. falciparum the data shows that both the decrease of Ang-1 and the increase in the ratio of Tie-2:Ang-1 are more closely associated with P. falciparum than with P. vivax (Ang-1 (median [min, max]): Uninfected (n = 88): 12.67 [3.71, 32.16], vivax (n = 4): 9.19 [9.14, 9.85], p = 0.975, falciparum (n = 5): 8.89 [8.56, 9.51], p = 0.098; ratioTie2:Ang-1: Uninfected (n = 88): 0.89 [0.20, 2.56], vivax (n = 4): 0.76 [0.50, 1.51], p = 0.766, falciparum (n = 5): 1.42 [0.86, 2.65], p = 0.096).
