MMP-2 mRNA showed a weak increase in AAA-MSCs following hypoxia (0.8-fold increased, p > 0.05, paired t-test) and nutrient deprivation at 37°C (0.7-fold increased, p > 0.05, paired t-test), in comparison to AAA-MSCs grown according to the standard protocol, but no significant differences were observed; a significant increase was recorded after nutrient deprivation and culture at 4°C (0.7-fold higher compared to controls, p < 0.05, paired t-test) (Figure 3B). The gene discussed is MMP2; the disease is triple-A syndrome.
