Serpins A1 (α1-antitrypsin) [47], A3 (α1-antichymotrypsin) [48,49], and I1 (neuroserpin) [34] have all been identified within senile plaques associated with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) or in surrounding tissue/supporting stroma. Here, SERPINA1 is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
