GCG and alcohol dependence: The current study further adds novel important information, that is, (1) it provides evidence from a different animal model and lab; (2) it holds significant clinical relevance, given that the effects were specifically detected in a mouse model of alcohol dependence; and (3) it was not conducted with exendin-4 itself but rather with another analog, thus providing additional evidence toward our overall hypothesis on the specific role of the GLP-1R regardless of its ligand (for example, GLP-1, exendin-4 or AC3174) in excessive alcohol consumption.
