Nonetheless Escherichia coli immunization of rats led to induction of pauci-immune glomerulonephritis and detectable ANCA in one out of eight animals [18] and another experimental study revealed that bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) dose-dependently increased renal injury induced by anti-MPO directed immunoglobulin G (IgG) as demonstrated by the formation of glomerular crescents [22] (Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene MPO and glomerulonephritis.
