Analysis of 35 patients with IgA nephropathy showed presence of IgA antibodies against four of five investigated pneumococcal polysaccharides (7F, 9N, and 14 and 23F), the titers of which were significantly increased when compared to patients with other glomerulopathies, whereas IgG antibodies did not differ between both groups [41]. The gene discussed is CD79A; the disease is lipoprotein glomerulopathy.
