In a study related to GDF-15 level in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), Kempf et al. [24] showed that GDF-15 levels were independently related to age, male gender, diabetes, smoking, reduced systolic blood pressure, elevated heart rate, and a cardiac troponin T (cTnT) level at presentation. This evidence concerns the gene TNNT2 and diabetes mellitus.
