However, in noncancerous tissues sampled from areas adjacent to resection margins, Nampt/PBEF/visfatin protein concentration was significantly higher in patients with anemia (3.04 mg/g (2.09–4) versus 1.37 mg/g (0.84–1.9), p = 0.003) and tended to negatively correlate with hemoglobin concentration (r = −0.37, p = 0.065).
