The new metrics allow for novel insights into biological node functions, network pathways, controllability and robustness for instance regarding dominating nodes (cancer mutations, complex genetic diseases), system state behaviour over time (e.g. in differentiation, learning) as well as feedback loops (e.g. autocrine amplifiers) or cross-inhibition (e.g. TNFR1 versus TNFR2 networks). This evidence concerns the gene TNFRSF1A and cancer.
