The Wnt target genes CDX1 and CDX2 are thought to play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining intestinal metaplasia and carcinogenesis, due to the observation that the intestinal phenotype is induced in cdx1 or cdx2 transgenic mice and that the intestinal-type adenocarcinoma is induced in cdx2 transgenic mice [5]. Here, CDX2 is linked to gastric intestinal type adenocarcinoma.
