Patients who developed renal failure were older (p < 0.034) and had a history of diabetes mellitus p < 0.0001 (OR 15, CI 95% 2.35–95.4) and hypertension p = 0.002 (OR 8.14, CI 95% 1.8–35.3), a tendency to present more advanced stages of the disease, stage C (CDC) p = 0.086 (OR 2.9, CI 95% 0.83–10.4), poorer virological control with high log VL levels (p < 0.001), and lower CD4 lymphocytes (p = 0.076). Here, CD4 is linked to kidney failure.
