Considering the recent findings that have implicated a role of the IGF1R pathway and the EGFR in pancreatic cancer progression and therapeutic responses [16, 19], we treated the Bxpc3 cells with mAb IGF1R to determine whether the IGF1R influences the survival of these co-cultures In agreement with the clinical data, the Bxpc3 cells responded to IGF1R inhibition, suggesting that a combination therapy blocking the EGFR and IGF1R pathways may provide synergistic value in the clinic. This evidence concerns the gene IGF1R and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
