NF-kB is sequestered by IkB in the cytoplasm; viral infection, such as HIV-1 and EBV, may result in the activation of NF-kB through UPS-dependent degradation of IkB, leading to up-regulation of a variety of antiviral genes (Magnani et al., 2000; Mingyan et al., 2009; Sun and Cesarman, 2011). The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is viral infectious disease.
