After 12 months of HAART, baseline anemia (AOR = 2.01; 95% CI: 1.36-2.97), age group 25–34 years (AOR = 5.92; 95% CI: 1.39-25.15), age group 45–54 years (AOR = 4.78; 95% CI: 1.07-21.36), CD4 count below 200 cells/mm3 (AOR = 2.15; 95% CI: 1.21-3.82) and 200–350 cells/mm3 (AOR = 1.91; 95% CI: 1.13-3.25) were independently associated with the odds of being anemic. This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and anemia.
