In breast tumors, Hayashida and co-workers showed that HOXB9 was capable of promoting neo-vascularization and distal metastasis in mice xenografts, suggesting that HOXB9 could contribute to breast cancer development due to induction of several growth factors, changing either the development of tumor cells and tumor stromal cells [28]. The gene discussed is HOXB9; the disease is breast neoplasm.
