This association became also apparent in the present study where we could detect overexpression not only of FGFR2 but also of FGFR4 as well as of the ligands FGF5, FGF11 and FGF18. The parallel overexpression of several FGF/FGFR family members reinforces a potential role of FGFR signaling in the pathogenesis of myxoid liposarcoma. The gene discussed is FGFR4; the disease is myxoid liposarcoma.
