HIF1α is ubiquitously expressed in tissues, and it has been shown that activity of HIF1α is mostly regulated at the protein level.11 It also has been shown that basal levels of HIF1α expression in HCCs could predict overall survival of HCC patients.16 Moreover, it had been shown that there is an unexpected compensation of cell survival after loss of E-cadherin by overexpression of HIF1α in breast cancer cells.17 We therefore wanted to ask whether the basic expression level of HIF1α is similar in CAs and NCAs.
